Free State Open - Clay Target Shooting.

Some Discussions Before The Start
All Ready On The Line
I always look forward to any shooting weekend away.

This was no exception and early on Friday morning we were packed and off to Bloemfontein.

Richard decided to have a practice round when we arrived and even in the howling wind he shot a good 22.

Then it was off to our B & B and then to find somewhere to eat.

Then The Sun Went Down
And They Packed Up
Now I have vowed never to eat at a Spur again - but who has been to Bloemfontein lately.

We were told the best restaurants were at the Windmill Casino
. There we could choose from - wait for it - Wimpy, Ocean Basket and Spur. Can I tell you that no matter if you dragged me by the hair, you will never again get me into a Spur. Enough said.

Saturday morning Richard had a 10 o'clock start on the Universal range and here I also will not tell you all that happened except it took eight hours to shoot four rounds. Equipment wasn't working, clays were breaking, staff didn't know how to load the machines, on and on.

As a result Richard couldn't shoot his Skeet in the afternoon and as for the rest - we packed up and came home.

We had not been to Bloemfontein to shoot for more than 10 years and if we never go back - couldn't be too soon.
